Approaching the time when the demand for water will exceed supply . This will result in the withholding of development , the onset of war for water and the possibility of interstate conflict . The number of the world's population is growing rapidly , demand for water even faster , but the amount was no different .According to statistics, only 3 % of the world 's fresh water , while 97 % is in the oceans . Only 1 % of the water that is in the earth is drinkable . Currently the situation in the water sector at the global level is quite disturbing . According to the data , 18 % of the world's population , lack access to safe drinking water . About two million children die every year due to lack of water . It is estimated that in the coming years , especially in developing countries , the problem of water supply will deepen more and more due to climate change and global population growth . This requires urgent measures , such as increased investment in water infrastructure , the conservation of water resources , as well as water recycling schemes .
